Nodehill Maths

Welcome to the new Nodehill Maths blog. The purpose for this blog is to inform parents of the ways in which they can help their children with their mathematics, for I have frequently been asked by parents what they can do in order to support their children's maths work. Parents play an important role in improving their children's maths, as most maths we do is based on problems that they encounter in the world outside of the classroom, and as such there are lots of opportunities for parents to question their children and improve their understanding. This blog will therefore hopefully act as a guide and support for parents enabling them to take a more active role in improving their children's numeracy. At first I am starting with the basic skills which the children need, but over time, as I add more to the blog, it will hopefully become a more comprehensive guide. I have now included a section on helping children in Years 5 to 6. This section contains the materials, which are available on the Governments website, that are designed for parent's to specifically aid their children's maths learning in the main topics taught. These are well worth downloading and going through with your children. Please feel free to send any comments or queries which you may have - Peter J Schlachter
